Astro-Notes on the Mysterious Madame Helena Blavatsky

Whenever I've read about Helena Blavatsky through the years it's usually an article written by an astrologer or from an astrological viewpoint. Today I received a heads-up concerning an article written by Matthew Wills who, I assume, is a non-astrologer. Check out Spiritualism, Science, and the Mysterious Madame Blavatsky, if you wish.

Blavatsky and her associate Colonel Olcott founded Theosophy in NYC on September 7, 1875 10:00 pm LMT and there is an actual, historically timed natal horoscope for it with its Saturn in futuristic Aquarius opposing Uranus in Leo--both planets conjoining the MC-IC axis. Curiously, 8Gemini was rising there at 10:00 pm which brings America's natal Uranus to the fore.

As for a natal horoscope for the noble-born founder of the Theosophical Society, (nee, Helena Petrovna von Hahn), her birth data is rated C for 'rectified from approximate time' and was collected by Lois Rodden herself. Here are Blavatsky's details:

August 12, 1831 2:17 am LMT Ekaterinoslav, Ukraine. Note that this birth data is the same as found in Marc Edmund Jones' book, The Sabian Symbols in Astrology.

Sun 18Leo, Moon 9Libra, Ascendant 19Cancer, MC 23Pisces, her inventive, broadly intellectual, and fortunate Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Aquarius was opposed by natal Sun. Sun Leo-Moon Libra is a Fire-Air combination of Utopian idealism and denotes one who is expressive, out-going, and artistic. Something of a maverick, Madame B. was 'regally friendly' and she easily took on leadership roles in her individualistic way. Her "cunning charm" and "calculated boldness" were attributes along with organizational skills and an appreciation for style and elegance.

This personality blend's negative side: 'unconscious snobbery, moral self-righteousness, bossiness, laziness, and a tendency to lean on other people without acknowledging their support'.

Now there are three *Images for Integration for Sun Leo-Moon Libra and at least one if not all three of them seem to apply to Madame Blavatsky and the followers she gathered around her:

"A monarch discusses poetry with a visiting diplomat...Jeeves the butler welcomes Bertie home with a jolly party of artists, important personages, and eccentric friends...The Actors' Guild stages a political rally." (*Sun Sign-Moon Sign, by Charles and Suzi Harvey.)

'Mme. HPB' (as she was known) and partner Olcott moved to India (Jupiter conjunct Uranus!) in February 1879 in order to set up chapters of the Theosophical Society; Madame Blavatsky moved to a higher plane (aka, died) on May 8, 1891, taking many of her secrets and mysteries with her.

For more details on the life of Helena Blavatsky and a peek at her magnetic eyes, you'll find a biographical sketch at Crystalinks.

Halloween 2016 New Moon in Scorpio - Gregory Scott Astrology

October into November 2016: Manure for the Garden

First, here is UK astrologer Gregory Scott with details concerning the October 30, 2016 New Moon @7Sco44 which perfects in the US at 1:38 pm edt and it's "Black" since it is the second New Moon in the month in the UK (and wherever the last New Moon @8Lib15 fell after midnight on October 1st but in the US that lunation occurred on September 30th at 8:11 pm edt so perhaps for us the October 30th New Moon is more of a Gray Moon...?)

Anyway, here's Gregory Scott with his report:

The Halloween 2016 Double-Water New Moon (both Sun and Moon in Scorpio) represents a lot of intense, passionate, vindictive, fearful, and possibly secretive Scorpio energies in the environment. This combination possesses two interesting 'Images for Integration' that creatively describe the conscious vs unconscious melding that needs to take place for the best results to be achieved:

Sun Scorpio-Moon Scorpio: "A pile of manure slowly permeates the deeper soil as the November rains soak the still, dark garden...A millionaire businessman establishes a foundation for medical research."

Does one Image remind you of our Campaign 2016 candidates? Or maybe they both do!

Unveiling Ceres - the video (plus, Ceres as Mother Earth)

1st Asteroid Ceres Discovered: Mother Earth, Grain, Corn, Nourishment, Security

Asteroid Ceres (#1) was discovered by Giuseppe Piazzi on January 1, 1801, the date that Ireland united with Great Britain which suggests a special relationship between the archetypal harvester, Ceres, and the country and people of Great Britain. Plus, a link is suggested between the discovery location of Ceres, Palermo, Sicily, and Britain. Ceres has become a practical expression of the Greek goddess Demeter whose namesake asteroid wasn't discovered until May 31, 1929, Heidelberg by K. Reinmuth.

Besides representing The Mother archetype, Ceres may also signify the Grandmother, the nurse, a nurturing teacher, governess, nanny--whoever tends to the nurturing and care of those who need it. Of course, the astrological Moon tends to nurturing and mothering, too, and her sign describes our reigning need (Tyl) but the fluctuating Moon is more changeable, even erratic, than Ceres (and Demeter), two archetypes that relate more to feelings of devotion to a higher purpose. And for the harvesting of the grain and other food stuffs, Ceres and Demeter describe the necessary work and resulting productivity such work requires.

In a natal chart, the midpoint between natal Ceres and Demeter shows where their energies combine, are highlighted, strengthened, and may be activated by transiting planets, and other astrological configurations and conditions. Even a Ceres or a Demeter Return is significant for those with either asteroid prominent in their charts and psyches and will relate to a new cycle of activity in the realms of nurturing, productive work, and/or mothering.

Perhaps at or near a Return of the Nurturers, a new diet attracts!

Now here is a close up view of asteroid Ceres which, as is so often the case, favors a large and tumbling potato:

Wedding Day Astrology: Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky

The following report is a re-post from my discontinued blog Jude's Threshold sans edits except for purposes of readibility:

Chelsea and Marc's Wedding Day Astrology Report

by Jude Cowell

The place: Rhinebeck, NY; the couple: Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky; the hour? Unknown. “This evening” is the closest thing I’ve found to a time for the happy couple’s ceremony but for the purposes of this Wedding Day Astrology Report, the Moon remains in Aries with Sun in Leo, a Fire-Fire combination of energies.

First, here are some bio details and natal chart details for Chelsea Clinton, born Feb 27, 1980 (data rated AA), along with mention of Marc’s birth date, Dec 15, 1977, mere weeks after Chiron was discovered @3Tau09. Update: we should note that the Solar Eclipse of February 26, 2016 in the 19 South series with its positive themes hits Chelsea's natal Sun at 8 Pisces.

In Marc’s natal chart (‘noon’), Mars 11Leo30 Rx will be transited by the Sun in early August, a time of pride and of putting plans into action. This will be good energy for a honeymoon sojourn! And progressing his ‘noon’ chart to July 31, 2010 shows a classic marker for when it’s time for marriage to occur: Sun conjunct Venus.

Fire-Fire is a combo indicating intense passion and creativity, and lives lived from a very self-centered perspective because life is approached according to keenly felt beliefs and visions of what could be – based on subjective truth. Yes, double Fire is very tuned in to its inner reality which may result in a lack of awareness of others. (This describes their partnership, not just the passing energies of their wedding day.) Enormous enthusiasm is shown, however, with an inspiring, childlike ability to enjoy life to the fullest, yet patience is not a strong suit of Fire-Fire.

Natural leadership abilities are embedded within the Clinton-Mezvinsky partnership, though pessimism may turn up when things go through a rough patch (as all relationships can do.)

Sun = male principle; Moon = feminine principle; Sun/Moon = marriage.

Sun Leo-Moon Aries: self-confidence, passionate and adventurous, reckless nobility, vanity, and a social consciousness in spite of its self-centeredness, this blend possess the idealistic dedication of a knight in shining armor or a Don Quixote.

(Interestingly, Chelsea’s natal chart has Hidalgo Rx exactly conjoining her natal Ascendant and thus, rising: both at 16Sco21! Hidalgo relates to the Spanish title ‘don’ and is one of the ‘power’ asteroids in Astrology.)

Leo-Aries has a warm-hearted, extroverted personality which is always eager to embrace life, love, and success in huge amounts and to the point of an assumption of ‘divine right’. Guile and pretence are completely lacking with this combo which is a gambling, daring blend of fiery energies. A dramatic spirit impels the combo forward toward making its own mark

This blend (their patnership) does not indicate irresponsibility for all its self-cernteredness and impatience – lecturing, media, business, and theater are areas in which they will shine. Yet they first look to others as models and may tend toward hero-worship as they learn through others how to be great (though it's doubtful Donald Trump will be consulted for 'greatness' tips.) Obviously, the couple have several icons to look up to, though favorite professors may fill the bill as well.

Great powers of persuasion, courage, optimism, and a desire to leave the world a better place make this a noble combination under which to start their married lives together. Now check out the two word pictures for Sun Leo-Moon Aries: the first image describes Marc and the second one sounds like a bride-to-be waking upon her wedding day (or the two children they have since sired)!

"Images for Integration: A knight errant dedicates his next grand adventure to the mistress of his heart, and then rides off into the sunset in a cloud of dust...A young child wakes in the morning with wide eyes and great excitement, as a whole day of play lies ahead." (Sun Sign- Moon Sign by Charles & Suzy Harvey.)

Oct 11, 2016 Update: if you're curious, the Huffington Post published a comparison between the Clinton-Mezvinsky wedding and that of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

One of the better predictive methods in astrological work is the study and use of Solar and Lunar Eclipses, those 'wild cards of the Universe' which can affect our lives either positively or negatively, and not right away but often at a later date.
