Minerva: The Goddess and the Asteroid

Among the Capitoline Triad of Jupiter and Juno nestles Minerva, often with a wreath of laurel upon her brow. Yet I confess that years ago when I depicted in pencil 'Owl of Minerva' (displayed above) I knew very little of the mythical goddess, and had paid little if any attention to the position of asteroid Minerva in my natal horoscope - in other words, the Zodiacal position where Minerva was hanging about on the evening I entered the Earthly flux.

Why, Minerva even has her own Wikipedia bio page with a list of her impressive attributes which include wisdom, strategy, the arts, craftsmanship, protection, city state, family, and justice. Anyone familiar with Athena or Pallas Athena, sees the similarities, for one is a Roman goddess, the other Greek, but the concepts are basically the same.

As for Minerva in natal horoscopes, I tend to apply her position as relating to the potential for "being accomplished" with further clues contained within her natal degree, sign, house position, and aspects, along with information found within the Sabian (or other symbol) for the asteroid's natal degree!

Yet there is a sinister connotation which may attach to Minerva due to negative occult associations between her animal, the owl, and the idolatry of ancient, evil "gods," such as during ritual ceremonies carried out at Bohemian Grove festivities in California each summer. But that's a bizarre topic way beyond the scope of this modest Minerval post, so if you're curious and daring, a Google would be my best advice.
